Educate Yourself Thin

Published by suze at 3:19 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

This next idea for being your ideal weight has nothing to do with food or exercise and everything to do with your emotional well-being, and here it is:

Educate yourself. I don’t mean go back to school, but go back to school if that’s something you’ve always wanted to do. Don’t, for God’s sake, wait until you’ve lost weight. Don’t hold back on your life. Do what you have always wanted to do. Live.

If you like the idea of hiking, take a small step towards that goal.  Walk up the street and back.  If you’ve always wanted to swim, research public swim times at your local pool.  Better yet, inquire into lessons or aquafit classes.  Do something that makes you feel good.  If the thought of a strenuous hike in a local greenspace freaks you right out, don’t do it.  Do something a little less stressful for you but totally related so your soul knows you’re honoring it.

Your spirit is starving for expansion. For greatness. Just look at your body! Spirit seeks expansion and, if you choose to not honor this need, your body will do the expanding. Something has to give. The energy has to go somewhere.

Educate yourself by getting to know yourself. Read books. Read blogs. Some of my favorite blogs are written by Dave Navarro (not the guitar player, but he IS a freakin’ rockstar IMHO Wink), at Rock Your Day , Leo Babauta of Zen Habits, Havi Brooks of The Fluent Self , and Michele Woodward .

Small sampling, to be sure.  Start to open up your world beyond obsessing over food, your body size and what a scale may ’say’ or whether you’re sexy attractive or not. I’m not even asking you to take a walk. Just exercise your mind a bit more, get to know yourself from the inside out. Become reacquainted.

Our bodies are wonderful vehicles. They enable us to do a lot of good in the world and hope everyone is having fun doing so.

Our bodies are also useful indicators of our well-being. When you’re sick, you’re blocking the flow of wellbeing. You’re in a state of dis-ease. Your body is telling you it is in need of rest or recover. When your body is expanding beyond your ideal weight, its a call for you to respond to your life in a different way. Being overweight is about energy management and you need to manage your energy differently than you have been if you desire different results.

Start filling your mind. Feed your soul. Before ego can respond, “But I already do!”, feed your soul differently. It’s hungry.
